Welcome to a foxy tech tips tutorial on changing your Windows 10 settings to stop your laptop from automatically sleeping when closing the lid. This is a good setting to change if you have your laptop connected to a monitor and don’t need its lid open to use it.
Watch the video tutorial 👇 below or scroll down to read the text version!
• Go down to your taskbar and right click on the battery icon. If you can’t see it, click the arrow to display the hidden taskbar icons and it should be there.
• Select power options.
• In power options, click ‘choose what closing the lid does’.
• On this settings page there are settings for deciding what happens when you close your laptop lid. Set it to ‘do nothing’ if you want your PC to stay active after shutting the lid. You’ll need to change the settings for both when the laptop is running from battery and when its running from power.
• Be sure to save your changes when you are finished here.
